Fred Momotenko (1970) studied at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, Russia.  In 1990 he was invited to perform in The Netherlands, after which he enrolled in the Brabants Conservatory (NL), majoring in percussion in improvised music. After graduating Momotenko decided to devote himself to contemporary composition and continued his study at Fontys Conservatory (Tilburg).

In 2006 he graduated in composition (bachelor) and in 2009 he gained with distinction his Master of Music degree at Fontys Conservatorium and as a part of this education he followed the Sonology at Royal Conservatory (Den Hague).
